About BoonTo & FAQs

  • A BoonTo is a meaningful message sent to a trusted connection.

It defines who you are and can be grateful, caring, kind, committed, funny, appreciative, inclusive, empathetic, happy, or sad.

  • BoonTo is a social impact company on a mission to improve people’s lives through meaningful connection.

We allow you to track your impact on others and to see the contagiousness of your kindness. We provide you with the tools to create meaningful connections with others.

  • The name comes from the English word “boon,” which is a thing to be thankful for. The name is also inspired by the South African philosophy of “Ubuntu,” which generally means “I am because we are.” BoonTo means, “send a boon to someone.”

  • My Impact is data that measures the impact of your BoonTo messages on your trusted connections and on others as it spreads around the world.

My Impact is calculated with three scores over a rolling seven-day period:

Impact: The total count of the messages you sent plus messages sent by the recipients of your messages (the snowball effect at its best).

Contagion: The average of the impact scores from each message you sent, which represents the contagiousness of your messages. One message might impact 3 people, another might impact 10. We then calculate the average. The higher the contagion, the more viral your messages are and the greater your impact. When you send a message, your contagion starts at 1 because when you send a message, you also impact yourself.

Distance: A measure of the total distance traveled (in miles) over the longest chain of connections impacted by just one message you sent.

  • We purposely left out the capability to share your own photos. This is why we offer a variety of creative and contemporary images for you to use as backgrounds for your messages.

We are changing the game by focusing on the impact of sharing moments, memories, and meaning, through words instead of pictures.

  • We decided not to include a react button, such as a thumbs-up, heart, or other reaction. Studies show that we get oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin simply from writing a meaningful message based in gratitude.

At BoonTo, we focus on what we can control, such as input and impact, instead of reaction. However, you can treasure or trash a message you receive. The sender will not know the action you take.

  • This indicates your BoonTo message has not been opened by the recipient, the recipient has not enabled their location settings, or the recipient has chosen not to share their location with you.

Your BoonTo message hangs out in the Bermuda Triangle until the recipient retrieves it, enables location, or shares their location with you. If you are unsure if they received your BoonTo, you can check your sent messages and press resend.
